What to monitor
You can take preventative steps to ensure your generator is performing its best, especially if it is located outside.
If there is heavy snowfall or the weather is particularly cold, it is beneficial to check that the intake and exhaust vents are clear of snow and ice. If these vents become blocked it can lead to your unit overheating and stop it from performing correctly.
Anti-freeze and engine heaters are also a good investment and help to keep your generator up and running when the temperatures drop.
It is also a good idea to run your unit regularly to keep your unit lubricated. This will also allow you to pick up on any issues before you need your generator.

We can carry out a visual inspection and inspect replaceable parts to ensure everything is in good condition, if anything needs replacement, we can let you know the cost and advise on the best course of action. We will carry out an oil level check to ensure your generator is sufficiently lubricated, some units will simply not work if the oil level is low to protect the generator parts.
We will also carry out a load bank test. Load bank testing before the winter months is an extremely useful way of checking to see if your generator can run at maximum capacity. In the event of a power outage over winter, you can rest easy knowing that your generator can fully support your site.
