As part of their expansion into the UK market, IONOS have built their first UK tier IV data centre, located at the brand new Worcestershire Six Business Park.
To ensure that the data centre met tier IV standards, IONOS required huge levels of redundancy on site, meaning they required an extensive critical power set up on site.
Vital Power were invited to tender for the project, and were subsequently proudly appointed as critical power suppliers.
The data centre contains of 4 server rooms and one main office. Each server room consists of four strings, each requiring their own generator, UPS, Tx and cooling system. Vital Power were selected to supply, install, and commission 9 x industrial diesel generators on server rooms 1 & 2 and the office.
Scope of works
- 8 x 550kVA prime/ 605kVA standby diesel generators each with a Scania IIIA engine, Stamford alternator & DSE 8620 control panel
- Each generator feeds from its own 8000L external bulk fuel tank
- Bespoke exhaust system – a twin walled exhaust stack that has been designed to divert fumes away from the building and ground level
- 1 x 350kVA/ 385kVA standby diesel generators each with a Scania IIIA engine, Mecc Alte alternator & DSE 7320 control panel
- Expansion module fitted onto each panel which feeds in IONOS’ bespoke Building Management Systems (BMS), allowing site to monitor their critical power systems alongside other elements of the facility.
