VPB-400 Mobile 400kWh Battery Energy Storage System

The VPB-400 includes separate 400A inputs for grid and generator power, allowing it to be incorporated into a carefully designed temporary or hybrid power system.

When used alongside a generator, battery storage can reduce unnecessary generator runtime by supplying stored energy during suitable operating periods. This can lower your fuel consumption, reduce generator wear, and avoid running an oversized generator inefficiently. The system provides a 400A Powerlock output and a 63A three-phase output for connection to suitable commercial and industrial loads.

The VPB-400 stores electricity and uses it when it’s needed. This means you can manage periods of higher demand, reduce pressure on the grid connection and improve control over site energy use.

By providing additional capacity when demand rises, the system can support peak-load management and reduce any dependence on conventional temporary generation. It can also support a broader energy strategy focused on improving efficiency and lowering operational costs.

Measuring 2,950mm long, 2,250mm wide and 2,250mm high, the VPB-400 is smaller than a standard 10-foot ISO container. This compact footprint makes it easier to use on commercial, industrial and temporary sites where space is limited.

Despite its small size, the system provides 440kWh of rated capacity, 400kWh of usable battery storage and 250kW of continuous power. The all-in-one design integrates the batteries, controls, cooling, safety systems and power connections within one single mobile unit.

Intelligent software continuously controls and optimises the VPB-400 to support battery performance and system safety.

The system monitors individual battery packs throughout operation, while CAN, Ethernet, RS485, Wi-Fi, and 4G interfaces provide flexible communication options. The system also supports IEC 102/104, CAN and Modbus protocols for connection to compatible monitoring and energy-management platforms.

This visibility allows close monitoring of battery condition and system performance, helping identify and manage potential issues promptly.

The VPB-400 uses first-life lithium iron phosphate batteries, also known as LFP. This provides the stability and durability required for demanding commercial energy-storage applications.

A forced-air cooling system helps manage operating temperatures during charging, discharging and standby operation. The battery provides a 0.5C charge and discharge rate and a specified cycle life of more than 5,000 cycles to 90%.

Individual battery packs can also be replaced, allowing the system to be maintained, repaired and upcycled rather than automatically replaced as a complete unit.
