VPB-200 Mobile 200kW Battery Energy Storage System

The VPB-200 stores energy and uses it when it delivers the greatest operational value. This can help manage periods of higher demand, reduce pressure on your grid connection, and improve control over energy use.

When incorporated into an appropriately designed power system, battery storage can also reduce the time diesel generators need to operate. The battery can supply power during suitable periods, while the generator can be reserved for recharging or supporting larger loads.

This can reduce fuel consumption, generator wear, and the cost of running an oversized generator at low load.

Measuring 2,250mm long, 1,450mm wide and 1,800mm high, the VPB-200 is smaller than a standard 10-foot ISO container. Its compact dimensions make it easier to deploy on commercial, industrial and temporary sites where space is limited.

Despite its small footprint, the system provides 200kW of continuous power and 203.5kWh of usable storage capacity. The all-in-one design brings the batteries, intelligent controls, cooling, safety systems and electrical connections together in a single mobile unit.

The VPB-200 uses intelligent software control to optimise battery operation, safety and performance.

The system monitors individual battery packs throughout operation, while CAN, Ethernet, RS485, Wi-Fi, and 4G interfaces provide flexible communication options. The system also supports IEC 102/104, CAN and Modbus protocols for connection to compatible monitoring and energy-management systems.

Continuous monitoring provides greater visibility of battery condition and operating performance, allowing potential issues to be identified and managed promptly.

The system uses first-life lithium iron phosphate batteries, commonly known as LFP. This battery chemistry provides the stability and durability required for demanding commercial energy-storage applications.

Liquid cooling helps control battery temperature during charging, discharging and standby operation. Maintaining appropriate operating temperatures supports consistent performance and helps protect the batteries throughout their working life.

The VPB-200 provides a 1C charge and discharge rate and a specified cycle life of 6,000 cycles to 90%. Battery packs can also be replaced, allowing the system to be repaired, maintained and upcycled rather than automatically being replaced as a complete unit.

Multi-parameter sensors monitor environmental conditions, shock and volatile organic compounds. Battery cells are monitored at individual pack level, with pack isolation helping to contain potential faults.

Fire mitigation measures include a perfluoro aerosol system, continuous monitoring, automated alerts and an external fire alarm. The complete system is rated to IP54, while the individual battery packs are rated to IP67.

C5 anti-corrosion protection and a working temperature range of -40°C to 50°C prepare the VPB-200 for use in demanding environments. Assess each location’s suitability before deployment.

Where additional storage or power is required, up to three VPB-200 units can be connected in one string. This flexibility lets you start with one mobile battery system and increase capacity as project requirements change.

A three-unit configuration can provide up to 600kW of continuous power and 610.5kWh of storage capacity, subject to the site design, connections and operating requirements.
